Stakeholder Conference “Political education for adults as a chance for integration and societal cohesion”

06.11.2018 | Berlin

The Stakeholder Conference “Political education for adults as a chance for integration and societal cohesion”, which was organised in conjunction with the Continuing Training Working Group of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), took place at the State Agency for Civic Education in Berlin on Tuesday 6 November 2018.

Since the European Union Education Ministers issued their “Paris Declaration” in order to promote citizenship and common values following the terrorist attacks in Paris and Copenhagen, the issue of civic education for adults has moved higher up the policy agenda. This is also reflected in the fact that measures in the field of political education for adults are being planned for the new funding period of the Erasmus+ Programme after 2020.
Against this background, representatives and experts from the Federal Government, the federal states, the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the National Agency Education for Europe at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training all convened to discuss the topic of political education for adults..
