Lower Saxony Regional Conference: "Skills and their Validation in Basic Education"

Lower Saxony Regional Conference: "Skills and their Validation in Basic Education"

06.02.2018 | Hanover

Entitled "Skills and their Validation in Basic Education", the joint regional conference hosted by the European Agenda for Adult Learning and the Lower Saxony Agency for Adult Learning and Further Education was held on 6 February 2018 in Hanover.

The effective promotion of basic education skills poses a challenge for adult educational practices. The aim is to offer people support that has been carefully tailored to meet their specific needs in the best possible way and to help them achieve an improved level of participation in society. The key issues at the heart of this regional conference looked at what is currently understood by skills-orientation in basic education, both in theory and in practice, and how adult education can approach the processes in the most effective possible way.

A high degree of overlap was demonstrated throughout the conference with the European Agenda for Adult Learning and the recommendation of the EU Council "Upskilling Pathways" as well as topical issues and the latest developments in basic education practices in Lower Saxony. A range of different national and international examples for assessing competences were worked on and discussed as part of the workshops.

The conference was organised in cooperation with the Agency for Adult Learning and Further Education of Lower Saxony, the State Association of Adult Education Centres in Lower Saxony and the coordination office of the 'Decade for Literacy and Basic Education in Germany' Programme.
